Policy Plan:
In this policy plan, we outline the goals for the years 2024-2028.

OBJECTIVES OF THE JUTLAND FOUNDATION
The foundation aims to promote and facilitate (documentary, journalistic, educational, and artistic) projects and productions — in words, images, and sound — and everything directly or indirectly related to or beneficial for this purpose, all in the broadest sense of the word.
The foundation seeks to achieve this goal by:

  • Carrying out (documentary, journalistic, educational, and artistic) projects and productions in words, images, and sound.
  • Promoting (documentary, journalistic, educational, and artistic) projects and productions in words, images, and sound.

Additionally, the foundation aims to make the world in general — and the Netherlands and Texel in particular — more beautiful, enjoyable, and better in the broadest sense of the word.

METHOD OF FUNDING

Article 3.
The foundation’s assets will consist of:
a. Income from the foundation’s assets, as well as the initial capital.
b. Funds acquired through subsidies, donations, bequests, and inheritances.
c. Money obtained in other lawful ways.
As a cultural ANBI (Public Benefit Organization), the foundation aims to attract tax-deductible donations from donors, philanthropists, funds, and other subsidy providers.
The foundation’s projects can also secure funding through commercial assignments on behalf of the foundation, provided the assignments and resulting profits benefit the projects in line with the foundation’s goals. This allows the foundation to engage in commercial activities and handle VAT accordingly.
The foundation operates on a project basis and can support multiple projects simultaneously.
The foundation’s assets are centrally managed but, as much as possible, broken down and accounted for per project. The goal is to manage the funds of each project separately, preventing one project from affecting another. Each project owner reserves funds for the foundation’s overhead (e.g., accounting and office costs) according to a proportional agreement.
The foundation strives for the lowest possible fixed costs and overhead.
It also aims for fair compensation for all creators, creatives, freelancers, and companies working as subcontractors for the foundation, making every effort to secure sufficient funding for each project.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE FOUNDATION
The foundation seeks to enable and facilitate documentary, journalistic, educational, and artistic projects aimed at fostering a better understanding of the world, encouraging the public to think and take action, and, ultimately, making the world a more beautiful, enjoyable, and better place through storytelling projects. The board decides which projects the foundation supports and facilitates.
Projects may take the form of television documentaries, exhibitions worldwide, reports in newspapers and magazines, podcasts, installations, online projects, and any other existing formats. The foundation strives for broad accessibility and multimedia diversity in its projects. The target audience may vary per project.

METHOD OF INCOME GENERATION
Project partners — creators and/or producers of the projects facilitated by the foundation — are expected to raise sufficient funds, donations, other contributions, and/or assignments to ensure the best possible execution of the project. Campaigns may be conducted under the project name and/or the foundation’s name, Jutland Foundation.

MANAGEMENT AND EXPENDITURE OF THE FOUNDATION'S ASSETS
For each project, a budget is prepared detailing the funds needed and how they will be spent. Many projects are multi-year efforts, leading to budget reserves on the balance sheet. In principle, only overhead costs are covered by the foundation itself, while all other incoming funds are allocated according to each project’s budget.
Only for long-term projects with multiple sub-projects, such as The Europeans, will a permanent project budget be maintained.

FOUNDING BOARD
The founding board consists of:

  • Rob Hornstra
  • Anoek Steketee
  • Arnold van Bruggen

The board members carry out their duties entirely without remuneration or expense reimbursement. Any work they do within foundation projects may be invoiced through the other entities they normally invoice outside the foundation.
